“Understanding Our Children” is a universal support group for parents of children with behavioral or emotional problems. Having a child diagnosed with a disability or disorder takes its toll on families. People in your life may have offered to give you their two-cents about how to deal with your child, when in reality they don’t know what it’s like. You are not alone. This group is about relating to other parents who know what it is like to have a behaviorally difficult child. Talking with other parents about their experiences can enlighten you with new ideas of what works and what does not work in helping your child. There is hope.
Each group meeting will begin with useful information on topics such as AD/HD, Bipolar disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Inflexible-explosive children, relaxation techniques, coping skills, recent research findings, psychiatric medications, helpful resources, and much more. The majority of each group meeting will allow for the exchange of ideas between parents.
This is an on-going, open support group where you can come and go as often as you like. Adults only, please.
